We would like to introduce you to our February Employee of the Month, Kim Mclaughlin. Kim was chosen because of her kindness, compassion for the elderly and for her attention to detail while she is with her clients.
Recently we asked Kim about her experience as a Senior Companion. This is what she shared:
1. How did you hear about Seniors for Seniors and why did you decide to join the company?
I heard about Seniors for Seniors on a radio ad. My father had recently died from dementia and I was looking for employment that could honour him. I noticed while he was in hospital that a lot of older patients didn't have anyone visiting them. I thought working with seniors would be a perfect way to contribute to society, help a much needed sect of individuals and honour my dad at the same time.
2. What is your favorite companion/caregiver experience or story?
There are so many wonderful experiences that I don’t have one specific story to share. One of my favourite places to bring my clients is to the botanical gardens. Toronto has a great one at the corner of Lawrence and Leslie. The joy of being outside, seeing what's blooming and conversing with other people always brings me and them much joy.
3. How has Seniors for Seniors benefited you and your clients?
As I have a degree in microbiology and worked in the pharmaceutical field for many years, I'm quite comfortable in a doctor’s office. I take it very seriously when I accompany my clients to their appointments. I take notes and report back to the family what the doctor said. Being a Senior Companion has allowed me to use my science background to help my clients. My clients become a part of my family and I would do anything for them.
4. How has being a Senior Companion enriched your life?
Being a Senior Companion has given me more patience with my clients and along with that, I have more patience with my own family.

Mr. B. did a good job for us as well as being cheerful and a perfect gentleman. We would be happy to recommend your Seniors for Seniors!
